Barcelona beat Espanyol 4-2 on Sunday to win their 27th LaLiga title at the RCDE Stadium, also known as Estadi Cornellà-El Prat.
Experienced striker Robert Lewandowski scored two goals in the first half to give Barcelona an early edge in the contest. Alejandro Balde was the other scorer in the first half for the home side.
Defender Jules Kounde headed in Barca's fourth in the 53rd minute, before Javi Puado and Joselu scored consolation goals for Espanyol.
With this victory, Barcelona moved to 85 points after playing 34 matches. They leave behind second-placed Real Madrid by 14 points.
Sergio Busquets-led Barcelona will meet fourth-placed Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou stadium on May 20 [Saturday]. They will lift the trophy after the match on Saturday.
It will no doubt be an emotional occasion for captain Sergio Busquets, who last week announced that he will be leaving Barca after 15 years at the end of the season.
It was Busquets' ninth LaLiga title and 32nd overall with the club, with his trophy cabinet also including three Champions Leagues, seven Copa del Rey and three FIFA Club World Cups as well as his 2010 World Cup and 2012 European championship success with Spain.
"I'm delighted, I think we had a spectacular campaign and clinched it today with a great win," Busquets told Movistar Plus.
"We are a solid team, a well oiled squad with an outstanding defence and that's how champions are built," he added.
Espanyol fans invaded the playing field
Several fans of Espanyol invaded the playing field after their team tasted a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Barcelona.
The incident took place when Barcelona players were celebrating their title victory. Luckily, the players were able to get into the tunnel before fans could reach them.
LaLiga management, in consultation with the authorities, has decided to take strict action against the fans. The action will be taken after a transparent investigation into the incident.
According to reports, the lighter fine that could be applicable is a €6k fine and the partial closure of the stadium for one match. The most serious categorisation would lead to a fine between €18,001 and €90k, as well as a complete stadium ban ranging from one game to an entire season.
Moreover, fans, who invaded the pitch, would be identified with the help of Espanyol. The fans, involved in the incident, might face ban in the stadium.
